UNCG Summer Music Camp - This camp offers two one-week camps, serving programs in band, mixed chorus, orchestra, and piano. Students at the camp are under the leadership and guidance of the artist-faculty of the UNCG School of Music. In addition, distinguished music teachers, performers, and conductors from throughout the state and nation will join the staff of Summer Music Camp to ensure that each student receives the highest quality instruction available. Ensemble performance in band, chorus, or orchestra are emphasized and each camp will conclude on Friday evening with a concert for parents, relatives, friends, and area residents. Classes in basic musicianship, as well as recital performances and sectional rehearsals by the camp staff members serve to balance the total program. A private lessons are available to all campers. For students who wish to take a private lesson on their instrument or voice, a 30 minute private lesson is an available option for all campers. Students in grades 8 – 12 only may also request a 60 minute private lesson. A private lesson on piano is also available to orchestra, band or mixed chorus students if requested in advance. Lamar Stringfield Music Camp - This camp offers one or two weeks of camp held at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Raleigh NC. Students range from 6-18 years old. Instruction is for string, as well as select wind, brass, piano, and percussion players. Students with a minimum of one year of study up through advanced level players can participate in orchestras, technique classes, sectional rehearsals, theory classes, chamber music ensembles, electives, mini concerts, seminars, and concerts. Campers will be placed in the orchestra that matches their age level, however, students can audition for placement in another orchestra.
