MYCO is a pre-professional program focused on chamber music and chamber orchestra performance. MYCO strives to encourage students to develop skills that will serve them throughout their lives (as musicians or otherwise): creativity, artistry, and collaboration.
During the school year, MYCO offers a program on Sunday afternoons for intermediate and advanced string players and pianists between the ages of 10 and 18. MYCO also offers an intensive summer workshop program for one week in June for middle school, high school, and college students. New students are accepted by live audition at the beginning of each semester, as well as before the summer workshop. MYCO students enjoy a positive, challenging environment with ambitious performance standards. They are regularly coached by high caliber professional musicians from UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke, UNC-Greensboro, East Carolina University and beyond, and also have opportunities to work with guest artists from groups such as the Juilliard Quartet, Enso Quartet, and Horszowski Trio. MYCO's orchestra and smaller chamber groups offer free public performances every semester. For more information visit: http://www.mycomusic.org/ |
